Claws & Paws Rescue helping cats and kittens get adopted 

​About Claws & Paws Rescue

Claws & Paws formed three years ago when we saw cats and kittens getting euthanized at the shelter because of illness, social ineptness, and over-crowding.  The shelter needed help getting more cats adopted.  We decided the cats and kittens needed public exposure to increase adoptions and with quality foster care, the semi-ferals could be socialized and the sick could be nursed back to health.  Some people do not want to go to the shelter to look at animals because they say they will feel too sad or guilty about the cats left behind, so it is easy to come look at cats in front of Smith's.

 

After holding adoptathons a few Saturdays each month, we noticed that adoptions increased and people really wanted to help us, so they gave us donations. Donations of money and cat supplies. We started going to Smith's every Saturday.  Euthanizations were down in the shelter cat room.

 

We could tell that what we were doing was working, and we quickly became known as the "cat people" here in Socorro.  100% of the donation money is used for the cats.  We buy food, supplies, medical care, and medicine for sick cats.  We also supplement some adoption fees of shelter cats, making it easier for almost everyone to afford adopting a cat or kitten.
